Fullerton College Pass Program

Fullerton College students ride for a discounted fee during Fall 2022 and Spring 2023! Ride the OC Bus to school, work, shopping, the beach–wherever and whenever you want. Visit the OCTA/Fullerton College Pass Program for more information on bus routes.
Bus passes will be distributed to your OC Bus App account on the first day of the semester.

If you are experiencing difficulties accessing your bus pass on the OCTA bus app, please contact OCTA at (714) 636-7433.

Alternatively, please contact Student Life and Leadership at studentlife@fullcoll.edu or (714) 992-7095.

Please note: If you request your ID card to be encoded, you will not be able to get the ticket on your OCTA Bus App and vice versa. Student Life and Leadership highly recommends attempting to get the Bus App before encoding your ID card. Only one encoded ID card can be produced per semester for each student. If you lose an ID card that is encoded, Student Life and Leadership cannot encode another ID card until the next semester.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Download the new OC Bus App from the Apple or Google Play store to your mobile smartphone (*this new app was implemented on November 10, 2021). To create your account, you must use the email you used to register for your classes. Your pass will appear in the “My Ticket” section. For students who need help downloading the OC Bus app or if you have any questions, please contact Student Life and Leadership at (714) 992-7095 or email studentlife@fullcoll.edu. Click New OCTA Bus App_College Pass Program_Fullerton College for the pdf on the new updated OCTA Bus App.

WHAT IF I DON’T OWN A SMARTPHONE OR A TABLET/iPAD TO DOWNLOAD THE BUS APP, BUT I NEED TO RIDE THE BUS?

We understand that some students may not have access to a smartphone, tablet or iPad to download the OC Bus app and we are here to support you. For students who do not have access to a mobile smartphone, please contact the Fullerton College Bursar’s Office at (714) 992-7006 or email fcbursar@fullcoll.edu to request a physical bus pass.

The Bursar’s Office will be open for students to pick up a physical bus pass on Wednesdays and Thursdays only, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Bursar’s Office is located on the first floor of the 2000 Building along East Chapman Avenue. Please visit the Bursar’s Office website for more information.

Please call the Bursar’s Office when you arrive on campus, and make sure you have a form of identification with you. A member of the Bursar’s staff will meet you near the ATM machine and verify that you are a currently enrolled student for the semester at Fullerton College and have paid the transportation fee. Once verification is confirmed, a Bursar’s staff member will provide a student with two passes at a time (50 days apart). Please note that bus passes are not replaceable and cannot be mailed at this time.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When you board, scan the pass on your smartphone or the physical pass.

WHAT IS AN ACTIVATED STUDENT I.D.?

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the Student Center encoded and activated the OCTA bus pass on the Fullerton College student I.D. card for students who did not have a smartphone and access to the mobile app. During the pandemic, the Student Center is unable to issue any student I.D. cards, so students who are in need of a physical bus pass may contact the Bursar’s Office. Please see details above.

WHEN DOES IT EXPIRE?

OC Bus app passes renew each semester upon enrollment. Students must maintain enrolled status to maintain eligibility for the program. All bus passes are non-transferrable.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Fullerton College full-time and part-time students currently registered for the semester.

WHO PAYS FOR IT?

Starting with the Fall 2019 semester, the first year of this 3-year pilot program was funded by the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP), a part of the Cap-and-Trade Program and the Mobile Source Air Pollution Review Committee (MSRC).

During the second and third years (Fall 2020 to Summer 2022), fees approved by Fullerton College students in April 2019 will pay for the program.

HOW MUCH IS THE FEE?

Full-time students will pay $5.75 and part-time students will pay $5.00 for the entire semester. If a student were to pay market value for an OCTA bus pass, it would cost $46 per month and $184 for a semester.

WHY AM I CHARGED FOR THIS FEE AFTER THE SEMESTER STARTED?

Full-time students will see a $5.75 transportation fee and part-time students will see a $5.00 transporation fee posted to MyGateway on September 8, 2020. Students will have until October 2, 2020 to pay for this fee before a hold is placed on the student’s record.

WHY ARE STUDENTS PAYING FOR THIS MANDATORY TRANSPORTATION FEE?

In the spring of 2019, Associated Students supported a proposed partnership with OCTA to implement the Fullerton College Pass Program. With the support of Associated Students, a referendum was placed on the ballot that spring for students to vote on a three-year bus pass program. The first year (2019-20) would be free, but subsequent years (2020-21 and 2021-22) would be paid for by all part-time and full-time students as a mandatory fee each fall and spring semester. The students-at-large overwhelmingly passed this referendum and voted “YES” for the Fullerton College Pass Program.

The first fall semester of the Fullerton College Pass Program, there were 94,337 bus boardings by Fullerton College students from August to December 2019!
