Why I love Fullerton College:
“How Fullerton College has provided so many opportunities for me to embrace by being and be proud of my heritage and connect with other people in the community. As an Asian American who wasn’t raised in the US, I like how open and welcoming the environment is. Fullerton College also provides me a lot of opportunities to try the stuff we didn’t have back home. There’s always a room for me to participate in everything coming along with great resources. I’m so grateful to be here.”

The students are super friendly, the staff is always helpful, and the campus is absolutely breathtaking—I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my college journey. I’m looking forward to spending the next two years here and making memories that will last. Thank you for making Fullerton such a welcoming place!”

Joaquin "JQ" Strong
Nominated by FC Men’s Basketball
JQ Strong arrives in the Hornet’s Nest after a redshirt season at UC Davis. The skilled forward was a First-Team All-Crestview League selection at Villa Park and the Crestview Player of the Year as a senior. Prior to Villa Park, JQ helped St. Bernard high school to a Del Rey League championship – the school’s first in over a decade. Why I love Fullerton College:
“A year ago, when I moved to the United States to pursue my education, I was well aware of the challenges and barriers that awaited me. Yet, Fullerton College exceeded all my expectations, turning every moment into something far more enjoyable and memorable. I quickly found myself falling in love with this supportive community and vibrant campus. The versatility of resources that students here have access to is what I find most admirable. I’ve had the privilege of working as a tutor in the Adaptive Computer Lab, and witnessing the empowerment of students with diverse needs warms my heart. I’ve heard many of the students I tutored admit that Fullerton College is one of the few places where they feel seen, heard, and supported. My gratitude for our community was strengthened by their stories. The professors have also been a crucial aspect of my time here. Their effective teaching methods and sincere care for students have had a profound influence on me both academically and personally. There’s something magical about Fullerton College’s architecture that goes beyond support and resources. The vintage charm of the campus makes it easier to romanticize everyday moments. But what truly sets Fullerton College apart is its community. There’s a sense of unity and inclusion that makes me feel connected to everything and everyone here. Especially as an international student, I had the chance to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures. I was able to find a sense of family and friendship in classes, the International Student Center, and clubs that made my experience more unforgettable. I love Fullerton College for those reasons and many more. It has become a home away from home, a place where I can dream, grow, and belong.”
